Car Satellite TV

Most of us spend a few hours in front of the television set and watch our favorite shows without ever realizing that all of it is possible with the help of satellite TV. Most of our favorite shows are relayed to us from thousands of miles away, sometimes even from across the seas. All of this is possible only because of satellites.

Car Satellite TV is delivered to our homes through small man-made heavenly bodies revolving 22,300 miles above the Earth’s atmosphere. These man-made marvels have taken entertainment and the media to dimensions previously unknown.

The satellite TV works through a relay system where the broadcasting network or channel sends signals to a satellite in space. This is known as an uplink. The satellite then relays these signals to thousands of receivers across the continent either to homes directly or to local stations and operators who then transmit them to individual homes.

Satellite TV systems are of two kinds. The first kind is known as a TVRO system. This is Television Receiver only system has been inexistence for some years now. The second system, the Direct Broadcast Satellite, is a newer system that operates on the Ku-band. The TVRO system uses the large dish antennas for receivers, something most of us have seen on rooftops of buildings. The DBS on the other hand uses a small 18-inch satellite dish antenna that can receive as many television signals as the big satellite dish.

The satellite TV dish is a parabolic object that is made of solid or perforated aluminum. This disk is mounted on the polar mount. The antenna consists of a positioner arm that can focus on separate satellites to as close as two degrees. The antenna also has a Low Noise Amplifier that converts satellite signals from 3GHz to 70MHz. It also has a feed horn, which filters and funnels microwave signals and other C-band signals.

All this equipment is attached to a Car Satellite TV receiver through a cable. The receiver communicates with eth descrambler that is plugged to the television. With so many small components at work, picture quality is improved and viewers are switching to better TVs to take full advantage of the satellite TV revolution.
